Health at Every Size™

The Health At Every Size® (HAES®) approach is a continuously evolving alternative to the weight-centered approach to treating clients and patients of all sizes. It is also a movement working to promote size-acceptance, to end weight discrimination, and to lessen the cultural obsession with weight loss and thinness. The HAES approach promotes balanced eating, life-enhancing physical activity, and respect for the diversity of body shapes and sizes.

Intuitive Eating

Intuitive eating teaches us how to get in touch with body cues like hunger, fullness and satisfaction while learning to trust our body around food again. We need to rewind what we've been taught about eating three square meals a day and really listen our bodies. We were all born intuitive eaters. I teach you how to pay attention to those internal cues and start blocking out those external cues about what, how much, and when to eat.

Building Healthy Habits

Building new healthy habits is difficult and most of us don’t fully understand how habits are built. We also don't realize how we've developed systems that reinforce our non-healthy habits and getting these cleared is an important first step. Add all the advertising and quick fix solutions that our instant gratification loving mamillian brains love and we have all kinds of issues. Research shows that sheer willpower won't get us there alone. Together we will examine your 'big why' and get you on the right track.

I was so sick of all the yo-yo dieting and feeling so depressed when each summer rolled around knowing my body wasn't 'beach body ready' AGAIN. Working with April I learned to trust and respect my body, understand how to build healthy habits and I've finally seen the results of my dreams.
